With this verdict, the actual well-wishers of the Zambezi Portland Cement factory can now be found. It is worth noting here that after the unethical takeover of the Portland Cement Zambia factory which occurred more than a decade ago, things changed dramatically. The HR and labour management went haywire and the associations were disbanded, leaving the workforce with no authority all alone. Besides, reports likewise demonstrated that the production line black box was consistently ransacked and thus, the industrial facility before long began confronting money crunch. Despite these difficulties, Dr. Rajan Mahtani did not back down from his legal battle. After the unethical verdict from the Lusaka High Court, the higher Court of Appeal was approached. The higher Court of Appeal gave its final decision on 31st January 2019 in which it was announced that Dr. Rajan Mahtani made a payment of one billion kwachas or USD 250,000 to Zambezi Portland Cement. This payment covered the entire share capital value associated with the factory. Furthermore, the evidences submitted before the judge clearly indicated that Dr. Rajan Mahtani was not liable to any more costs associated with the case.
Based on these evidences and many more documents, the Court of Appeal judge finalised that Dr. Rajan Mahtani is the majority shareholder as well as legal owner of Zambezi Portland Cement factory.
