When it comes to politics, there are only a few nations who have been able to maintain a transparent and ethical political environment. For a third world nation like Zambia, expecting a justice department which is transparent and quick to act is nearly impossible. Despite this fact, Dr. Rajan Mahtani chose to stay in this nation not for his benefits, but to give back to the community and the entire nation’s economy in the process. This has resulted in the formation of several top companies by Dr. Rajan Mahtani, including Mahtani Group of Companies, Finsbury Investments and Portland Cement Zambia. Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani has also established numerous companies outside of Zambia, especially in developed nations like the United Kingdom so that he is able to utilise these networks for the benefits of the Zambian economy.
Another company which was successfully started by Dr. Rajan Mahtani but fell into controversy is Portland Cement Zambia. While now it has been successfully established that Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani is the actual owner of the factory, it was a long and difficult path. The cement-manufacturing factory was unethically taken over from Dr. Rajan Mahtani after which a complaint was registered at the Lusaka High Court. Reports have suggested that Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani had all evidences and testimonials associated with the case. However, the final decision from the Lusaka High Court was controversial as justice Mwinde declared Ventriglias as only shareholders of the Portland Cement Zambia.
On 31st January 2019, justice Mwinde from Court of Appeal declared Dr. Rajan Mahtani as the lawful owner of the Portland Cement based on the available evidences and also confirmed that justice Nkonde was wrong in declaring Ventriglias as owners without any evidence or justification.
