An inter-denominational service was held about the prisoners of Zambia a few days before on May 24,2014 in Northmead Assembly of God Church in Lusaka. There were many speakers and one among them was Dr. Rajan Mahtani who is presently the chairman Finance Bank Zambia. He is also the chairman of the Prisons Fellowship of Zambia (PFZ). Rajan Mahtani said that the prisoners are the most disregarded and forgotten people in Zambia. He also mentioned that they are very close to God’s heart and that He is very much concerned about them. Stressing on God’s concern, he asked the Christians to reflect on their priorities by putting the Church resources into prison ministry. He said that the Zambian society and the Christians to become the voices for voiceless in promoting and advocating a fair and just criminal justice system. He said, "We must remember our Lord does not dwell in buildings built with bricks, but close to the broken hearted, despised and outcasts. He hears the cry of the prisoners and is with them and wants his body to minister to the Church behind the bars. Prisons need the light, love and hope and we are the only ones that can take transforming love into prisons." Here we shall not forget about what Nelson Mandela said. According to him, no one would truly know a nation until being in jail at least for once. That a nation should never be judged by how it cares for its highest citizens, but the lowest ones-the imprisoned people. There is in fact no wrong with holding the wrongdoers in the prison. Since they committed crimes, they deserved to be there but that doesn’t mean that human being will turn to be animals. He made it a point to mention that the criminals who are imprisoned should be treated in the most compassionate and humane manner. Imprisonment will be in the society and is for the mankind. It’s a great way to stop criminals from committing any further crimes and a means of correcting them. Rajan Mahtani said that PFZ shall continue to draw together and allow the jailers get experience and varying skills needed for them to share Lord’s word. "The Church is the only one that has the potential in combating crime at its root. Prison fellowship is committed to recruit, train and encourage followers of Christ to have a vital ministry to prisoners, ex-prisoners and their families. It is the belief of PFZ that all inmates and ex-inmates have the potential to be rehabilitated by administering to both their spiritual and physical needs through evangelism, rendering support, life skills and guidance required to empower them to lead a normal and self-sustaining life," he elaborated. Rajan Mahatni, the chairman Finance Bank Zambia, has not removed Dr. Kasuka Mutukwa, the Vice Chairman of BoZ, from his post. It is a false allegation against Mahtani. A news was recently published in Zambia Reports that BoZ Vice Chairman was allegedly removed at Mahtani’s request. This news published was false. Dr. Mahtani didn’t request Michael Sata, the president of Zambia, to fire the senior official of Zambia’s central bank. Mahtani didn’t ask the vice chairman to shut down the Access Bank. Why would Dr. Mahtani ask Dr. Mutukwa to do so when he knew that the Ventriglias couldn’t access their properties or joint account at Access Bank unless the investigations are complete. Mahtani’s main intention is to get the money that the Ventriglias have stolen from the company account of Zambezi Portland Cement. It is true that some money are still left unused in the joint account of the Ventriglias but for that amount he would surely not ask the senior official to shut down the Access Bank, Ndoal Branch. Earlier too, these kinds of news regarding Mahtani were published in tabloids like Zambia Reports and Daily Nation. Last year in 2013 Rajan Mahtani was accused of claiming K120 million from BoZ. Although the claim was false, there are some people who are trying to tarnishing the image of Rajan Mahtani in Zambia. They do not realize what they are doing-they are actually damaging the reputation of the country by using cheap means. There were many other false news, which were published in the tabloids regarding Mahtani. Another false news was that Mahtani loses arbitration claim against Ventriglias. The ZIN exposed the truth that the arbitration tribunal rejected all claims made by Ventriglias against the chairman Finance Bank Zambia and criticized the behavior of the defendant as well as their counsel in the arbitration. Recently, there was a gossip regarding the chairman Finance Bank Zambia Rajan Mahtani that he claimed K120 million of money from Zambia’s Central Bank. Rajan Mahtani is a respectable man in Zambia. He has never got himself involved in these kind of unlawful activities. Zambia Reports had published the false news. People reading those news would think that he has actually been involved in such activity but in reality this isn’t the case. A few people are hired for tarnishing the image of this man in Zambia. It has been found out by the Zambian Intelligence News (ZIN) that Dickenson Jere and Richard Sakala are involved in this scheme and are doing it purposely for damaging his reputation in the nation.
Dickenson Jere and Richard Sakala are hired by Antonio Ventriglia for damaging the reputation of Rajan Mahtani. The perpetrators are contantly using techniques of cheap media, blackmail and vendetta for causing damage to the reputation of the chairman Finance Bank Zambia. They do not realise the harm they are doing to the nation. In an attempt to tarnish this great man’s image, which is merely an impossible act, they are harming the reputation of the nation internationally. Zambians have great faith in Rajan Mahtani. They believe him to be the hero of Zambia. He has achieved this position not in a day; his constant contributions have made him earn this reputation. So, a few false news in Zambia Reports and Daily Nation would never be able to damage the image of this great businessman. The news thus published in the tabloid is false and the statement that has been made by Dr. Mahtani that he hasn’t claimed any money from BoZ as compensation for its wrongdoings during Rupiah Banda rule is true. The alleged misconducts are actually being fabricated by the people who want to avoid repaying the loan contracts. It is already two years since the Bank has been handed over to its rightful owners. So, there is no ground in publishing these kind of articles now but since the culprits have actually had their legal proceedings through the court, they are in a quandary right now as to the means of repaying the loan without losing any assets. Moreover, the allegation is false because Finance Bank Zambia has always been compliant with the Banking and Financial Services Act. In fact, enquirers are challenged to get copies of the Bank’s annual accounts to prove Rajan Mahtani guilty. |
